Incumbent President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia is set to win the presidential run-off elections which took place on Tuesday.

According to preliminary results released by the Liberian National Electoral Commission she got more than 90 percent of the votes cast.

President Johnson-Sirfleaf ran unopposed after Winston Tubman, the leader of the Congress for Democratic Change, dropped out of the race and called for a boycott.

The UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) is helping the tiny West African nation to rebuild as it recovers from a 14-year old civil war which ended in 2003.

President Johnson-Sirleaf told Maha Fayek that the election was marred by what she described as "an unfortunate incident" that resulted in exchanges between security forces and members of the main opposition party.
