Counting of ballots proceeds smoothly in Liberia

Liberian elections staff count ballots by lamp light

Liberia has begun counting votes from Tuesday's presidential run-off election.

Incumbent President Ellen Johnson- Sirfleaf ran unopposed after Winston Tubman, the leader of the Congress for Democratic Change, dropped out of the race and called for a boycott.
