Liberia's upcoming elections "test" for the country

Joseph Boakai

Liberia's commitment to democratic governance and peaceful coexistence will be tested this month with the election on October 11.

Vice President Joseph Boakai says every action is being taken to ensure it is free, fair, transparent and credible.

It has been nearly a decade since the United Nations intervened in Liberia, ending a disastrous 14-year civil war.

Mr Boakai says the government faces challenges, including educating its youth and creating job opportunities for Liberians.

Julie Walker spoke with Mr. Boakai about the upcoming elections in the post-conflict country.
