A Black woman from the Netherlands tells her story

At a meeting commemorating the International Year of People of African Descent 2011, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, told a gathering of women from the African diaspora that the situation of people of African descent remains dire, particularly for women and girls.

Ms. Pillay's words were confirmed by Dr. Hellen Felter of Tiye International, an organization representing Black, migrant and refugee women in the Netherlands.

She spoke to Gerry Adams about discrimination she and others have experienced.
