Humanitarian aid workers in Somalia are having enormous difficulties trying to access and assist approximately 400,000 displaced people in and around the capital Mogadishu, according to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres.

Mr. Guterres was recently in the country where he travelled to the towns of Dollo on the border with Ethiopia, and Mogadishu.

During his visit, Somalis living in spontaneous settlements like Maajo shared with the UNHCR Chief their daily struggle to survive.

Andy Needham, a UNHCR spokesman travelling with Mr. Guterres told Jocelyne Sambira how they broke bread with the Somalis on Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of the Islamic holy month of fasting.
