Tennis champion, Serena Williams has become a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Serena Williams, who has won 13 Grand Slams and two Olympics gold medals, will use her popularity to support UNICEF's mission to provide quality education for vulnerable children around the world.

Charles Appel reports.

Ms Williams will start with UNICEF's Schools for Africa programme to accelerate access to education for children, particularly girls, in Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

She was initially involved with UNICEF in 2006 when she went to Ghana on her first visit to Africa.
