Sub-Saharan African migrants remain stranded on the outskirts of the Libyan capital of Tripoli, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The agency says it has not been able to reach many of the migrants as it continues its efforts to organize their safe evacuation.

IOM is concerned that the migrants don't have food, water, shelter and medical care, and fear harassment by Libyans.

Migrants in need of help are camped out along a stretch of the coast and on farms inland.

Sub-Saharan African migrants are in hiding for fear of being targeted as mercenaries.
