Special Rapporteur urges Israel to end demolition

Raquel Rolnik

Israel has been urged to end the demolition of Palestinian properties in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Three UN special rapporteurs said the lack of accountability is encouraging demolitions.

Charles Appel reports

With at least 387 structures, including residential and agricultural ones destroyed since January this year, the Special Rapporteurs said the demolition of Palestinian property must stop.

They also urged Israeli authorities to prevent attacks against Palestinians by Israeli settlers.

The Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing Raquel Rolnik said the human rights violations are increasing.

The number of people displaced in August has exceeded those displaced during the entire last year.
