Meeting on non-communicable diseases should be "wake-up call" for action:WHO

World governments are being urged to act now to stop the increasing incidence of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes and obesity.

Speaking to the UN General Assembly, the World Health Organization's (WHO) Director-General, Margaret Chan, said ignorance, complacency and inertia should be replaced with awareness, shock and immediate action.
