Haiti "rebranding" itself to attract investment

President Michel Martelly of Haiti

The new leader of Haiti says he wants to rebrand his country to attract foreign investment and promote economic development.

President Michel Martelly told UN Radio that Haiti is open for business and ready to be reconstructed.

He stressed that his goal is to make the poor Caribbean country less dependent on aid.

"I want to promote a Haiti where people tend to come and invest, a Haiti that has its weakness but that also offers opportunities. So we want to rebrand Haiti and I have started doing it and I think I am doing a good job so far."
