Governments urged to step up "sustainable development" policies

"Sustainable development" is a buzz word readily used by governments and civil society across the world.

Simply put it's all about meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Attaining sustainable development in the face of mounting global economic and political challenges remains an uphill task.

In just under 10 months, the world will converge in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to make another attempt at reaching consensus on sustainable development.

UN Radio's Patrick Maigua reports from Geneva.
