Consistency in tackling conflicts urged by Lesotho

Prime Minister Pakalitha Bethuel Mosisili of the Kingdom of Lesotho

The international community has been urged to be consistent in dealing with conflicts around the world.

The call has come from Prime Minister Phakalitha Mosisili of Lesotho during his address to the General Assembly on Saturday.

He said that some countries continue to face internal or external conflicts but the international community has not been consistent in how it manages and resolves these conflicts.

"In some countries, the international community, acting through the United Nations Security Council, has been swift and decisive in intervening militarily. In other countries, the same international community has preferred mediation. And yet still in others, the international community has turned a blind eye, at best, leaving the mantle to some members of the international community to unilaterally threaten the imposition of sanctions."
