Cambodia "very optimistic" about ending dispute with Thailand

Hor Namhong

Cambodia is "very optimistic" about ending the dispute with Thailand over the temple of Preah Vihear, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

That's one of the things the country's Deputy Prime Minister told UN radio during the General Assembly debate.

Mr. Hor Namhong also says his country will withdraw its troops from the 11th century Hindu temple as required by the International Court of Justice. Something Thailand has also agreed to, however an exact date has not been set.

The ancient temple is situated in a territory that both Cambodia and Thailand claim. Julie Walker spoke with Mr. Namhong about this and other pressing issues in Cambodia.
