• A number of African leaders are in New York this week to participate in this year's session of the General Assembly. Presidents from Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania give their views on terrorism, piracy, as well as conflict prevention and resolution.

Côte d’Ivoire’s President "confident" about country's future

• One of the African leaders who are in New York to address the General Assembly is Alassane Ouattara, the President of Côte d'Ivoire. President Outtara said he has confidence in the future of his country which faced a crisis following the disputed elections in November last year. The Ivorian leaders is also ready to welcome the business community to Côte d’Ivoire.

• A major development at the United Nations this week was the formal acceptance by the United Nations of the new authorities of Libya. Fighting continues in the country as remnants of the old regime continue to resist. World leaders have been meeting to discuss the way forward.
