UN Youth Champion praises goals as International Youth Year ends

August 12 is International Youth Day.
It is also the culmination of International Youth Year 2011.
During the year, efforts were made to harness the energy, imagination and initiative of the world's youth in overcoming the challenges facing humankind.
American actress Monique Coleman brought International Youth Year 2011 to life by visiting youth in an array of countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil and the Czech Republic.
She explained her mission to Gerry Adams earlier this year after visiting South Africa.
