Six die in terrorist attacks in Southern Israel

Ban Ki-moon

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has strongly condemned a series of coordinated terrorist attacks carried out in southern Israel.

Gunmen fired at a bus travelling close to the Israeli-Egyptian border killing six people and injuring many more, media reports in the region say.

Two other vehicles in the same area were subsequently hit by either rocket fire or an explosive device.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says he is concerned at the risk of escalation and calls for all to act with restraint.

Mr. Ban Ki-moon has also called for the perpetrators to be identified and brought to justice.
