Situation in Kosovo remains 'unpredictable'

Farid Zarif

Since Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, there have been tensions between the two territories.

They were part of the former Yugoslavia which disintegrated during the collapse of Eastern Europe in the early nineties.

The acting head of the United Nations mission in Kosovo, Farid Zarif, says that problems caused by commercial issues persist between Serbia and Kosovo.

There have also been tensions between the Serbian and Kosovo communities in Kosovo.

Just before he briefed the Security Council on the situation in Kosovo, Mr. Zarif told Derrick Mbatha that 'the tension has eased a bit.'
