The importance of volunteerism in sustainable development

Kiyo Akasaka

It's been nearly 20 years since the groundbreaking UN Conference on Environment and Development took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Kiyo Akasaka, the Under-Secretary-General of the Department of Information, will attend. I asked him to explain the meaning of the conference's theme, Sustainable Societies, Responsive Citizens.
