A call for justice for Afghan journalist killed in line of duty

The head of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is calling for those responsible for killing an Afghan journalist to be brought to justice.

Irina Bokova says his death is a loss for Afghanistan, a country struggling for democracy and the rule of law.

Ahmad Omed Khpalwak was a freelance reporter for the Pashto service of the BBC and the Afghan news agency Pajhwok.

He was among 19 people killed in a Taliban attack on 24 July in Tarin Khot, capital of the southern province of Uruzgan.The attack also left dozens of others injured.
