World leaders meet over Libya as fighting continues

Members of NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation hold their fourth Libya contact group meeting in Istanbul, Turkey in an effort to come up with a solution to the ongoing conflict in the North African country.

This comes as fighting between forces loyal to the Libyan government and the opposition, continues for a fifth straight month.

Julie Walker reports.

The United Nations is pushing for a political agreement, saying there is no military solution to the crisis without one. They want world leaders meeting in Istanbul to support efforts underway by the Secretary–General's special envoy to Libya, to get the government and those demanding change to engage in direct negotiations.

However, the UN admits both sides are far apart.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in the country continues to decline with shortages of food, fuel and medical supplies, as well as lack of access to water services.
