Two million people in Pakistan at risk of flooding again

A year after the devastating floods in Pakistan, families are trying to rebuild their lives, homes and livelihoods.

It's been one year since devastating floods tore through Pakistan, killing 2,000 people and submerging one fifth of the country. At least two million people are again threatened by floods there during this year's monsoon season, due to a shortage of reconstruction funds. The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says more than $600 million is needed to support early recovery activities and other key humanitarian efforts in north western Pakistan.  Meanwhile, the humanitarian effort to help the more than 20 million people affected last year by the worst flooding Pakistan has ever known continues to this day. Gerry Adams spoke with OCHA's Humaira Mehboob from Pakistan.

Experts say that within 20 years, India will overtake China as the most populous nation on the planet. According to this years census, there were 1.21 billion people living in the country. As India expands, more people are moving from rural areas to cities in search on employment and better living opportunities. Pat Duffy reports.

Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world, with 237 million people according to the 2010 census. 18 percent of these people are ‘youth’ between the ages of 15 and 24 years old. Creating decent employment opportunities for young people in Indonesia is a top priority for officials there. The country's President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, become the first Indonesian leader to attend the International Labour Organization's Convention. Mehran Fahrooque spoke with the ILO's director for Indonesia, Peter Van Rooij, about the significance of this.
