"Take Action! Inspire Change" on Nelson Mandela Day

"Take Action! Inspire Change"

People are being encouraged to donate 67 minutes of their time to public service on Monday, 18 July in honour of Nelson Mandela International day.

67 is one minute for every year of Mandela's own service to humanity.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon says the "Take Action! Inspire Change" campaign is one of the best ways to honour the former South African leader who helped end Apartheid in the country.

"I had the honour of meeting him two years ago. I tried to thank him for all he has done. But he insisted that the credit lay with others. His humility continues to inspire."

Staff from the UN will be volunteering with the Central Park Conservancy in New York on Monday.

To post details and photos of your 67 minutes of service, visit the Nelson Mandela International Day Facebook page.
