Southern Somalia crisis 'a children's famine' says UNICEF

Children are the most badly affected by the famine which has been declared in two regions of southern Somalia – southern Bakool and Lower Shabelle.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) says that one in three children in the affected regions is malnourished and more than six per 10,000 under the age of five are dying every day.

UNICEF says that half a million children are close to death.
