One in three children in Somalia is severely malnourished, according to the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).

South Somalia is the worst drought affected area in the Horn of Africa, where aid is severely restricted because of the ongoing conflict.

Humanitarian conditions are the worst they have been in a decade, according to UNICEF's Marixie Mercado.

"Right now 2.8 million people, or 1 in 3 Somalis, is in crisis. That means a lacking safe water, sanitation and health services, vulnerable to illness and at risk due to the conflict."

UNICEF reports that there are four deaths for every 10,000 children arriving in the Melkadida refugee camp in Ethiopia.

Almost half of the children arriving in Ethiopia are malnourished.
