International support is needed to curb alarming levels of child malnutrition in Niger.

The UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) says that more than 15 children out of every 100 suffer from acute malnutrition in the West African country.

The agency says a poor harvest and pastoral season in late 2010, has contributed to malnutrition rates.

Niger is one of the African countries which receives the least international development funding.
