Military forces will have to leave the area surrounding the temple of Preah Vihear, following an International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling Monday.

The 11th century Hindu temple straddles Cambodia and Thailand and both countries have been fighting over it.

Julie Walker reports.

The Preah Vihear temple belongs to Cambodia according to a 1962 International Court of Justice ruling, but its main entrance lies in Thailand and both countries claim the small area around the historic site as their own. Fighting between the two sides has been constant. The ICJ ruled that both countries will have to immediately withdraw their military troops from the area. The judges also ruled that Thailand can not obstruct Cambodia's access to the 11th century Hindu Temple. Julie Walker, United Nations.
