First UN human rights office opens in Tunisia

Tunisia now has its first United Nations human rights office.

The country underwent a popular uprising earlier this year, during which government forces violently cracked down on citizens demanding democratic change.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, who opened the office in the capital, Tunis, said the world was watching as Tunisians kept demanding their rights and refused to be cowed by repression.
