Efforts continue to help growing numbers of migrants flee Libya

Bangladeshi Nationals Arrive Home from Libya

Migrants trying to escape the violence in Libya are living in fear for their lives, according to the International Organisation for Migration, IOM.

The IOM says that it's continuing to evacuate growing numbers of migrants from the country.

Nearly 625,000 have now fled Libya since the end of February as fighting continues between the Libyan government and rebels.

IOM spokesperson, Jemini Pandya, says many people are too scared to even attempt to leave.

“Today, as we evacuate yet another 230 odd migrants from Misrata who are currently on their way to Benghazi, we continue to receive reports of more and more groups of migrants who are scattered around the country unable to get out. The migrants are believed to be in various places with many of them hiding in fear because of their irregular status and because of their inability to leave the country and return home."
