An attempt to revive the stalled Mideast peace process is underway in Washington, DC.

Israeli-Palestinian peace talks have been stalled since last year following Israel's refusal to extend a 10-month freeze on settlement activity in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The meeting comes at a time when Palestinian leaders are pushing for UN recognition as a state, something Israel is against.

The talks will be led by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and European Union policy chief Catherine Ashton.
