Crimes against humanity and war crimes may have been committed in Côte d'Ivoire during the crisis that followed the November 28 presidential election.

That's the conclusion of a panel of experts that has been investigating allegations of human rights violations in the West African country.

The crisis, which ended in April this year, was provoked after former president Laurent Ggabgo refused to concede defeat to his rival, President Alassane Outtara.

The International Independent Commission of Inquiry says the violations were committed by armed forces that supported both sides during the crisis as well militias and mercenaries.

The Commission has submitted its report to the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.
