Torturers told they will face justice

Despotic governments and officials are being warned that torture is a serious international crime and that more torturers will be brought to justice.

That's the message from the UN Human Rights Chief, Navi Pillay to mark International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, observed on Sunday.

Pillay says strengthening of international justice mechanisms, including the International Criminal Court, means that the chances of torturers being caught, either on the national or international level, has greatly increased.
