Mission to north-west Syria finds empty villages

Syrian refugees wait at the Turkey-Syria border this week to be transported to a refugee camp.

Villages around the town Jisr Al Shugour in north-west Syria are reported to be empty following an operation carried out by Syrian security forces.

The Syrian government has said the operation was launched in response to attacks on its security forces by unknown gunmen in the town.

United Nations agencies, including the United Nations Refugee Agency, (UNHCR) on Monday joined members of the diplomatic corps and the media in Syria on a mission to the area.

UNHCR spokesperson in Geneva, Sybella Wilkes tells Derrick Mbatha about the mission.
