Ambassador Noel Nelson Messone

Libya was one of the "greatest challenges" for the Security Council, according to Ambassador Noel Nelson Messone of Gabon, the President of the Council.

The presidency for the Council, which is responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security, rotates every month among its 15 members.

In July, German Ambassador Peter Wittig will take over.

As the presidency for Gabon comes to an end, Ambassador Messone shared with Maha Fayek some of the highlights in the work of the Security Council in June.
