Gabon commits to dealing with worldwide tensions and conflict

Noel Nelson Messone

The new president of the United Nations Security Council is pledging to make what he's described as "significant inroads" on dealing with conflicts and tensions across the world.

Gabon, a non-permanent member of the Council has taken on the presidency for the month of June.

Gabonese Ambassador, Noel Nelson Messone, says the West African country will play its role in dealing with the issues faced by the UN.

"Success is a big word. The only thing you can hope for in the Security Council is that you make significant inroads in trying to solve these very difficult issues and situations of conflict and tensions. Any step you make in resolving these tensions is a measure of success.”
