Four surviving Khmer rouge leaders are appearing before a panel of five judges at a UN backed tribunal in Cambodia.

The former senior leaders are facing charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity.

All four have denied the allegations against them.

1.7 million Cambodians are said to have died from starvation, forced labour, torture and execution during the infamous rule of the Khmer Rouge.
