Disability count tops one billion
Over a billion people experience some form of disability around the world, a number greater than previously estimated.
The first ever world report on disability, produced jointly by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank, suggests that few countries have adequate mechanisms in place to respond to their needs.
One of the main recommendations of the report is to make life easier for those with disabilities, says Etienne Krug of the World Health Organization, who recently spoke to Gerry Adams.
