The Chinese authorities have been urged by a group of United Nations experts to reveal the whereabouts of Tibetan monks who were allegedly arrested in a monastery in April.

The UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances has voiced its concern about people who have simply vanished in China, including the monks.

It says that more than 300 monks from the Ngaba Kirti Monastery, in Sichuan Province were allegedly arrested and taken to unknown destinations by law enforcement officials.

Some of the monks are reported to have been released.

The group of experts says that enforced disappearance should not be tolerated under any circumstances.
