Cars arrive at UN to underline importance of sustainable energy

Electric car arrives at UN

Some of the world's leading electricity companies are getting together with the UN to look at ways of providing power to some of the 2.5 billion people around the world who don't have access to electricity.

Executives from the so-called e8 group of companies arrived at UN headquarters on Thursday morning in electric cars to demonstrate the versatility of electricity and underline the importance of private companies working with public organisations.

Daniel Dickinson was at UN headquarters in Manhattan for the arrival of the cars.
