Heads of State and Government from the African Union are meeting in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea for a two day summit beginning June 30th.

The focus is on youth empowerment for sustainable development. But, Libya along with discussions of peace and security in the region will also play a large role in the gathering.

United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro told those attending the conference the UN remains committed to supporting South Sudan's peaceful development.

She also said she hopes the AU supports the UN's efforts in Libya on the political front.

But, the Deputy Secretary-General's biggest message was about empowering Africa's youth.

Julie Walker spoke with Ms. Migiro about what message the UN is bringing to the summit.
