AIDS meeting at UN

• African countries are making efforts to combat HIV/AIDS despite challenges they continue to face. A number of leaders from the continent came to New York to participate in the high-level meeting on HIV/AIDS which started on Wednesday. They say the challenge remains making medications affordable for the people who need them.

• Civilians in the Libyan city of Misrata are bearing the brunt of the fighting. The port city is a stronghold for rebels and opposition members trying to oust Libyan President Muammar Qadhafi from power. Many residential areas have been destroyed, hundreds of people have died and thousands are missing.

Ensuring justice after conflict in Uganda

• The war in Uganda which killed thousands of people and displace one million others lasted for 20 years. A truce between the Ugandan government and the Lord's Resistance Army  was reached in 2006. Barney Afako who took part in peace negotiations says there is need to ensure that there is justice and peace.
