250 migrants missing after boat capsizes off Tunisian coast

Two hundred and fifty migrants are reportedly missing in the Mediterranean Sea after their boat capsized off the Tunisian coast.

The International Organization for Migration says the boat had at least 800 passengers on board.

The Tunisian coast guard was able to rescue over 500 migrants from the sinking vessel.

Meanwhile, search and rescue operations continue for the survivors.

Jumbe Omari Jumbe is the IOM spokesperson.

"Right now I don't have information about how many people are missing. Some reports – and this is what we got from those who have been saved and they are in our camp – they say actually those who are missing are 250. So, if those who are missing are 250, it is clear that the boat had more than 800 passengers."
