More than 120,000 police, military and civilian personnel serve in 15 peacekeeping operations in hot spots around the world.

Many of them have died to bring law, peace and order to these countries either hit by natural disasters or suffering from war.

The UN on May 29 is celebrating these men and women who are risking their lives for the cause.

It's also a day to remind people how rule of law is essential to peace, says Robert Pulver Chief of the Criminal Law and the Judicial Advisory Service (CLJAS) in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations speaking to Jocelyne Sambira.
