• The business world is being told that it needs to invest more in places like Africa as part of the global effort to help the poorest countries on the continent to break out of poverty. Daniel Dickinson reports from Istanbul, where an international conference is looking at what needs to be done for the world’s least developed countries.

Drama used to teach children road safety in South Africa

• The UN decade of action on road safety has been launched this week to save lives around the world. In South Africa Moira Winslow runs a non-governmental organization called Drive Alive, which uses a drama group known as ”Syabonana” to teach school children about road safety.

• Life in Côte d’Ivoire is slowly returning to normal after nearly five months of a political impasse leading to the death of 500 people and the displacement of 1 million others. Schools and banks are re-opening  but many people, still traumatized by the conflict remain in hiding.
