ICC Prosecutor says war crimes committed in Libya

• The International Criminal Court Prosecutor, Luis Moreno Ocampo, has requested the Court to issue arrest warrants against three individuals for crimes against humanity committed in Libya. In his address to the Security Council, Mr Ocampo did not disclose the names of the individuals allegedly responsible for the crimes, but pointed to the top members of the Libyan government.

Efforts underway to improve military justice in DR Congo

•The DR Congo is improving its military justice system. The UN mission and its partners are training the Congolese military justice officials.  Harriet Solloway, the Chief of Judicial Affairs at MONUSCO, says that military justice is critical to combat impunity.

Nuclear science used to control citrus fruit pest in South Africa

  •A project is underway in South Africa to use nuclear science to eradicate the false codling moth, which has plagued citrus fruit farmers for years. The UN nuclear agency and the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation are helping in this effort.
