Debt cancellation urged for poorest countries
The cancellation of all debt for the world’s 48 least developed countries or LDCs is being urged by a lobby of civil society groups.
The groups are meeting at a United Nations conference in Istanbul, Turkey, which has set the ambitious target of reducing the number of LDCs from the current 48 to 24 over the next decade.
Arjun Karki, who’s chairing the meeting of Civil Society groups told Daniel Dickinson that a progressive programme is needed to pull LDCs out of poverty.
