Contemporary forms of slavery are a problem in Peru
Authorities in Peru still face many challenges in addressing contemporary forms of slavery, according to a United Nations independent expert.
Gulnara Shahinian, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of slavery has just concluded her first fact-finding mission to Peru.
She told Derrick Mbatha that during her mission she met with people from various sectors of Peruvian society.
