That’s the conclusion of a report on headache disorders published by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Dr. Shekhar Saxena of WHO says that headaches are considered minor ailments by health workers and the general population although they affect many people.

“Our figures suggest that 50 per cent of the population within any year would have a headache disorder as opposed to just headache as a symptom which, obviously a large number of people have. Out of these, 11 per cent are because of migraine and 42 per cent tension kind of headaches with some other causes in a small minority. We know that headaches are more common amongst women compared to men and affect the young and middle-ages population more than children or old aged population.”
