Bombing of military training centre in Pakistan condemned

The bombing of a military training centre in the north-west of Pakistan, that has killed more than 80 people, has been condemned by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

The Taliban has reportedly claimed responsibility for the two blasts, which were carried out by two suicide bombers on motorcycles, as newly trained cadets from the Frontier Constabulary were getting into buses.

Martin Nesirky is the spokesman for the UN Secretary-General.

“The Secretary-General condemns today’s attack at a military training centre in the north-west of Pakistan, which reportedly killed over 80 people and injured many more. The United Nations stands by Pakistan in its efforts to combat terrorism, which continues to claim the lives of so many of its citizens. The Secretary-General extends his deepest condolences to the Government and people of Pakistan and the families of the victims.”
