$4 billion of food wasted in Sub-Saharan Africa

Farmer Harvests Sorghum Seeds in Sudan

Four billion dollars of food is wasted each year in sub-Saharan Africa because of a lack of infrastructure according to a new report by the Food and Agricultural Organization.

The FAO says that most of the loss happens in the post-harvesting stage, when the food is waiting to be transported to market.

Radmilla Suleymanova asked Divine Njie, from the agro industries and rural infrastructure division of the FAO about the findings of the report.
