World Malaria Day 2011– Achieving Progress and Impact
Malaria kills one child every 30 seconds, even though it is preventable and curable. Widespread in tropical regions, it is spread by infected mosquitoes. Combating malaria and other diseases is one of the eight Millennium Development Goals the international community agreed to reach by the year 2015.
Patrick Maigua spoke about the progress being made towards that goal with Dr. Awa Marie Coll-Seck, Executive Director of The Roll Back Malaria Partnership.
